Australia’s Bondi Beach is known throughout the world for its sandy beach, as well as its ideal surf. As a trendy resort enclave, which is very popular with locals and tourists alike, Bondi Beach has dozens of cafes and restaurants overlooking the beach. The whole vibe makes it a great place to check out and an even better place to stay.

Fresh green parkland surrounds the beach, and there’s plenty of room to throw a frisbee or kick a football. Skating is popular, and there is a skate bowl there where some of the cities best prefect their craft. Tony Hawke usually drops in when he’s in town to share a few tips with the locals.

The northern headland houses a historic Aboriginal site in the grounds of the local golf course. The site is a bunch of rock engravings, and they give a great idea of the history there. It’s also a great distraction from a golf game… but Sydney is just one big distraction.

There is a worthwhile coastal walk off to the south of Bondi Beach, taking you through some smaller coves and over to Coogee, another Sydney playground popular with the locals. It’s a hard walk at times, but the views are spectacular.

Campbell Parade is the ocean road lined with shops and cafes. Don’t forget to checkout the Bondi Markets where you can pick up some bargains from the chic locals who are cashing in to refresh their designer wardrobes.

You can learn to surf at Bondi, which is heaps of fun. If you’re already comfortable in the surf, but don’t have your own board with you, then you can hire both surf boards and body boards from the small hire shop on the beach. You can also rent lockers for you’re precious items.

To get to Bondi Beach from the Sydney city, hop on bus number 380 and change at Bondi Junction. You can also get a train to Bondi Junction, where you can walk to the beach, or catch a bus.

Once in Bondi there is a heaps of accommodation options, from tight budget backpackers, to the five star Swiss Grand.
